Several have requested that I do another boat painting, so here you go!. This little clipper ship has made an appearance in several paintings. Sometimes it has been at sea, other times the ship has been flying in the sky. This time it’s a little of both. Peter Pan’s song “You Can Fly” says this in one of the verses “Take the path that moonbeams fly…” That’s what this ship is doing I suppose….sailing on colorful moonbeams 🙂 This canvas painting ships mounted on 1.5″ wooden stretcher bars with edges painted black.
This weeks penny auction: Update: Sold
“I Finally Found You” 16×16 acrylic on canvas. This sweet little house has perched atop a hill with its telescope in search of the hanging stars. It found them! The sky this time is a beautiful abstract of changing color and lines. The curious house series has split style-wise into a collection where I combine my painting style and a sketch into once piece. I hope my fellow space explorers enjoy this piece as much as I do 🙂 This auction starts at .01 cent with no reserve and runs until Sunday, 8/3/14. Visit the listing to see more pics. Enjoy! -Cindy
This week’s penny auction is now live! This time it’s an 8″x24″ original canvas painting done in the illustrative style I sometimes do. This is a 5 day auction that ends this Sunday (7/27). No reserve this week, so highest bidder wins the painting. Enjoy! -Cindy Follow Me on Facebook Here
Two new limited editions available this week. There are only 10 in each edition.
Both of these originals will be available for sale in Taipei this April.
The first painting that started my Seafarers and Legends series. This ship was suddenly lifted by a flock of monarch butterflies. You may have seen an altered rustic version on Society6, this print is of the original painting. Available on eBay & etsy.
This little ship is always following the stars in search of treasure. Or perhaps it’s chasing after those jeweled stars. I love kinetic art, so I decided to paint a mobile (instead of try to make one). See this on eBay and etsy.
This month and for the rest of the year I am busy working on new originals for an upcoming show this spring happening in Taipei again. This year it’s a “sea” of imagination here in the studio 🙂 Some pieces have been posted, more to come over the next few months.
I’ve also updated my website to include a few new features.
Shop and Studio View. CindyThornton.com is now linked up to my etsy shop, so you can shop direct from my website. The final check-out happens on etsy, but now you don’t have to go find me there. Just click the “Store” link on my site to see what’s new. All items that ship from my studio are on hand and typically ship out next business day. “Studio View” is another new section where I post photos of what’s been happening in the studio. These postings usually happen after midnight (the only time I seem to be able to get paintings done these days). So if you want to see what’s in the works before I post them, visit that section of my site.
Lastly, I wanted to mention that I am currently offering signed canvas prints. These are not limited editions, but I only carry them periodically so quantities are limited. These gloss finished giclée reproductions are professionally printed on a tight weave canvas that produce a rich and clear printed image of the original . Special ink coating is used to protect the image and also to provide the surface with fade resistance for 75+ years. Each measures 12″ x 12″ and comes wired and ready to hang. I sign each print on the front – and pencil sign and title the back of the canvas. Below are the select works currently available.
Finally finished the paintings for the gallery in Taiwan. They have all been packed up and ship out this coming week. For those who have been waiting to see new prints, I’ll be working on them this month. The 8″x10″ signed limited editions will come later, but the larger fine art poster prints have started tonight. Here are the newly released prints…and remember, art.com coupon codes often work on this site, so always check before checkout 🙂
Sold to a collector in GA. Original 24 x 12 acrylic on canvas.
This painting is the original full spread illustration for a children’s book. I’ve just released this piece in two print sizes through ArtistRising. (Note: art.com coupon codes work when ordering through ArtistRising). Click the pic for more print info.
Sold to a collector in Georgia. (original 12×24 acrylic on canvas painting)
This painting is now available in a limited edition print of only 5. Some of my prints are made available as a larger open edition unsigned poster print. This print will not be…just the 5 I’ve made. So if you like, go grab! I post them one at a time on etsy in order – this link will show which one is currently available.
We had wonderful weather this past Mother’s Day weekend. Sold lots at the Dunwoody Art Fest. For those who have been waiting for new originals to be posted in the etsy shop, you will be happy to know that some new works will be posted in my etsy shop soon. I have some new works along with some of the original illustrations from the book I recently finished. The book illustrations were all done on stretched canvas just like my other paintings. I will be posting the new works within the next couple of days and throughout the month of May. Anyone who purchases an original illustration from my children’s book “House”, will receive a free hardcover copy of the book. Yay right?
Here is a shot of me in my booth right before the show opening, some table pictures, and a view from my booth. 13 of the paintings have sold, but don’t worry – I have a bunch more to post here online 🙂
