“Autumn Skies II”
6″x12 original acrylic on stretched canvas frame.
Another windswept tree, but this time the leaves have taken flight and have been whisked up and around the moon. The sky colors of this piece have all sorts of warm fall hues. The landscape is cooled off by the contrasting blues of the hill. This auction runs for 3 days and ends Sunday (Oct. 6th).
This week’s penny auction is now live! UPDATE – SOLD!
“I’ve Got You Babe” 10×20 illustrative original painting on stretched canvas.
“This Heart of Mine” – Sold custom original painted on an 18×24 stretched canvas is now available in print! Various sizes, various print surface options to choose from here.
New print available from Cindy Thornton Art! 10 signed limited editions are now available either through etsy or eBay.
The original will be featured in Taipei this April (2014) at an international juried art show – Art Revolution Taipei. This piece features 3 traveling balloons only they travel beneath the water. One of them has aired to the surface….oh look at that, a sunset! If anyone remembers Disney’s Bedknobs and Broomsticks movie, you will recall the underwater song. As I painted this it came to mind, and then wouldn’t leave my head. The rhythm and tune itself just lend itself to to this painting, so I titled it after the song “The Beautiful Briny Sea. I’ll post the video below as I’m sure some of you young’ns have not had the privilege 🙂
I’ve been doing what I call a “remix” by visiting select past works and altering them. These are currently posted over at Society6. They offer fine art prints, stationery cards, iPhone & iPod skins and cases, throw pillows, tote bags, and more! I’ve currently got 16 remixed pieces up. Check back from time to time to see what else gets added!
Now through December 8th, you can get $5 OFF + Free Worldwide Shipping! (offer excludes Framed Art Prints, Stretched Canvases and Throw Pillows with insert) No code required, just click the picture to access the sale direct.
This month and for the rest of the year I am busy working on new originals for an upcoming show this spring happening in Taipei again. This year it’s a “sea” of imagination here in the studio 🙂 Some pieces have been posted, more to come over the next few months.
I’ve also updated my website to include a few new features.
Shop and Studio View.
CindyThornton.com is now linked up to my etsy shop, so you can shop direct from my website. The final check-out happens on etsy, but now you don’t have to go find me there. Just click the “Store” link on my site to see what’s new. All items that ship from my studio are on hand and typically ship out next business day. “Studio View” is another new section where I post photos of what’s been happening in the studio. These postings usually happen after midnight (the only time I seem to be able to get paintings done these days). So if you want to see what’s in the works before I post them, visit that section of my site.
Lastly, I wanted to mention that I am currently offering signed canvas prints. These are not limited editions, but I only carry them periodically so quantities are limited. These gloss finished giclée reproductions are professionally printed on a tight weave canvas that produce a rich and clear printed image of the original . Special ink coating is used to protect the image and also to provide the surface with fade resistance for 75+ years. Each measures 12″ x 12″ and comes wired and ready to hang. I sign each print on the front – and pencil sign and title the back of the canvas. Below are the select works currently available.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving! -Cindy
Viewers are able to take whatever they want when they observe a painting, but I wanted share that some inspiration came from this beautiful song when it was sketched out. I decided to create this short 1 min video clip of the painting and song together. The hymn: Nearer My God To Thee, by Sarah F. Adams. While this video features only the first verse, I wanted to let you know how the the 4th verse reads:
“Or if on joyful wing
Cleaving the sky
Caught up to meet my King
Swiftly I’ll fly”
The art “Fantastic Voyage” featured in this video is a variant edition available in print online here: http://pixels.com/featured/fantastic-voyage-cindy-thornton.html
(The original version of the painting will be released at a later date and will only be available direct through me as an 8×10 limited edition. The original painting itself is slotted for a 2014 art show in Taiwan.)
More prints of new paintings will be released over the next 4 months. Watch my facebook page to catch them! -Cindy

I am very excited to announce that Forest Rain Gallery in Singapore will be representing me in 2013. Just yesterday I shipped out a package of original paintings to them, and should they arrive on time, they will be taking these paintings with them to Hong Kong’s Affordable Art Fair this March. This is good news if you live in Asia, as now there were be three locations this year where you can maybe catch an original: Singapore, Hong Kong, and Taipei this coming May.
And just in time for Valentine’s Day. ….One of the paintings I just shipped to Singapore is now available in a signed limited edition print over in my etsy shop.
