Dunwoody Art Fest

We had wonderful weather this past Mother’s Day weekend.  Sold lots at the Dunwoody Art Fest.  For those who have been waiting for new originals to be posted in the etsy shop, you will be happy to know that some new works will be posted in my etsy shop soon.  I have some new works along with some of the original illustrations from the book I recently finished.  The book illustrations were all done on stretched canvas just like my other paintings.  I will be posting the new works within the next couple of days and throughout the month of May.  Anyone who purchases an original illustration from my children’s book “House”, will receive a free hardcover copy of the book.  Yay right?

Here is a shot of me in my booth right before the show opening, some table pictures, and a view from my booth.  13 of the paintings have sold, but don’t worry – I have a bunch more to post here online 🙂

New Children’s Book Just Released!

I have a new children’s book out!  My husband wrote the story, I painted the pictures.  I paint lots of little houses in my paintings.  So we decided to take one of those houses and build a story around him….we named him “House” lol.  Anyhow, here is the official description of the book along with some photos I took of the proof I was sent.  The paperback is just now showing up on Amazon.  Hardbacks will be available shortly (middle of May, maybe sooner).

Book Description:
Artist Cindy Thornton is known for her whimsical landscapes and imaginative storybook-style illustrations. Her vibrant, colorful art is showcased in House, a picture book for all ages that brings to life one of her favorite subjects. The curious title character has many unexpected adventures when he decides to leave the comfort of his simple hill and explore the unknown world below. He swims with sharks, flies with jets, plans a mission to outer space, and eventually discovers what is truly important to him.

Holiday Giveaway (Closed)

Now until Dec. 11th, I am hosting a sweepstakes over on my facebook page.  One lucky winner will receive a 16×20 signed canvas print of “One Song”

Canvas is a 1.5″ thick museum wrap.  I’ve hand painted the sides black and signed the base edge.  Some have said this is a great piece for a little girls room, but I say it’s for all ages….I mean, it’s a Romeo and Juliet sweetheart piece!

Enter to Win!

This contest is for facebook and twitter followers.  Click the image to go the sweepstakes on my facebook page.  Be sure to read the 3 simple rules!  If I pick your name and you are not on my facebook list of people…that would be a real bummer for you.

Charity Art Auction

Auction is now live on eBay!  100% of the proceeds to go to the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge of Destin, FL.

As I mention in the auction this little baby seagull is lovin’ his clean beach.  Titled “With Love” because my little bird is with a hanging heart, but also because “With Love” from you to the organization, the proceeds will help with the oil spill clean up effort.  I chose this organization because, while I currently reside in the central FL area, I am from the Emerald Coast area of Northwest Florida (Niceville to be exact).  Reports from family and friends are the oil is just now starting to hit the shoreline this week 😦

If you are unable to bid at this time, you can still help by blogging, tweeting, facebooking etc. the auction listing.
10 Day Auction.  Bidding starts at $1 (Free Shipping to USA addresses)

LOST design contest winner here :)

Woo Hoo!  I entered the Cafepress Lost t-shirt design contest AND WON!  I’ve been an ultra fan (the kind that listens to backwards whispers, thinks everything is an anagram, and is a regular at darkufo.blogspot.com) since they crash landed.  There were 5 winners, one for each category.  I entered the “love square” category.  I contemplated doing something more like my art paintings, but in the end decided an old school doodle sketch (the kind that could be found on top of all my high school folders) would be better.  Click to check out all the winners 🙂

How High the Moon – Now in print

I am a soon-to-be aunt of twins, so I painted this for them 🙂  Many of my paintings have little songs that go wtih them and this is one of them.  With it’s jazz standard title, I suppose one might find it also to be a romantic setting too.  Either way, if you are looking for something for the nursery or for your sweetie, I’ve made this available in a small print size on imagekind.  Thanks for looking!
